Where do I start?

The first step is to have an assessment done to determine if this program is suitable for the individual.  A certified Facilitator will assess the person by doing a thorough Symptoms Profile Interview with both a parent/guardian (if the individual is a child) and the child.  After this is done, a Perceptual Ability Assessment will determine if the individual has the 'gifts' associated with dyslexia.  Then a very short reading session will take place, not to test, but to assess the reading process in terms of perception and disorientation.  Goals and specific challenges will be clearly established so as to tailor the Program specifically to the individual. The Facilitator will also make sure that the individual has the motivation necessary to do the Program, as this is very important to its success.

The next step is to schedule the Correction Program. This is an intensive one-on-one, one-week program with a licensed Facilitator, which normally runs Mon-Fri from 8:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., with a lunch hour from 12:00-1:00 p.m. each day. On the last day of the program, there is support training for the individuals who will help with the on-going work of Symbol Mastery. Symbol Mastery involves having the client master the entire list of trigger words and can be completed in short tutoring sessions over several months.  It is important to note, that although very often significant improvements are made during the week of the Correction Program itself, the process of mastering all of the trigger words through Symbol Mastery must be completed in order to correct the dyslexia.

The Davis Dyslexia Correction Program understands and respects that each person has different needs and challenges. Each program is tailored to meet those needs and challenges specifically.  Included in the program is a Student kit and the tools necessary to finish mastering the symbols. Also included is support training with parents and/or a tutor and follow-up assistance in the form of unlimited phone consultations and three follow-up visits.   A Full Program provides everything necessary in order to correct dyslexia and/or ADHD without further on-going costs.

Getting Started...

We recommend reading “The Gift of Dyslexia” or “The Gift of Learning”  (for those with ADD issues) by Ronald Davis. Parents often indicate that they find these books very helpful and have a lot of "ah-ha" moments while reading.  One parent said:  "It was like a light bulb went off- about 20 times.  I could definitely see my daughter in much of what I was reading- and myself as well.  It was such a relief to find something that not only made sense- but offered an effective solution."
